Eves Secures 6th In The F4 US Championship Standings At Season Closer
Braden Eves managed to secure 6th place in the FIA Formula 4 United States Championship this past weekend in the final race weekend of the season at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, after only competing in 3 of 7 events during the season. The F4 series was racing as a support event to the United States Grand Prix put on by Formula One.
“It was a really great opportunity to get to race during an F1 weekend,” Eves said. ”It’s amazing to think that my childhood heroes— people like Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso— are just across the paddock watching me race.”
Eves managed a 4th place finish on Saturday’s race. Eves stated contentment with that finish, saying, “I truly believe we got everything we could out of the car. This was a good race for us.” The final race of the season, which took place on Sunday morning, began on a wet track just after the end of a morning shower. The drying track saw many teams taking gambles with setups; around a quarter of the field started on slicks and several cars pitted mid-race to fit the dry tires. Eves, starting 4th, managed to make his way to 3rd before severe tire degradation (due to the drying track conditions) saw his lap times drop, leaving him in 4th position, 3rd after penalties were finalized.
“I’m a little frustrated that I didn’t get to stand on the Formula One podium, but I’m still really happy with this weekend’s results.”
Eves also said the fans for the F1 race made this weekend extra special. “The fans were amazing. Going up the hill towards turn one, the crowds have been insane all weekend. They’re packed in like sardines…I’ve really enjoyed meeting so many new people. It has just been a really special weekend.”
Braden would like to thank MDD, Onroak, Addison Holdings LLC, F4 US Championship, SCCA, JRI Shocks, and Honda for making this amazing opportunity possible.
